49 countries — live prices, visas, weather and holidays in one place
How to think about an Asia trip
Asia isn't one place. Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia) is cheap, warm and traveller-friendly; East Asia (Japan, Korea) is developed and pricier; South Asia (India, Nepal, Sri Lanka) is intense and very cheap.
The flight to Asia is long and expensive — so stay at least two weeks, ideally a month. Cheap intra-Asia flights let you combine two or three countries.
When to visit
Southeast Asia: the dry season (November–March) is the time. The monsoon (June–October) doesn't rule out a trip — the rain comes in bursts, prices are low — but islands and boat trips are limited.
Japan: spring (cherry blossom, late March–April) and autumn (foliage, October–November) are the peak, in prices and crowds too.
Visas and health
Some countries are visa-free for many nationalities; others need an e-Visa in advance (India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka). Each country's visa page has the exact rule.
Travel insurance with a high medical limit is the first thing to sort — private treatment in Asia can run into the tens of thousands.
