The Casa di Carlo Goldoni was built in the 15th century and still displays the layout and elements typical of late 14th to early 15th century Venetian civil architecture. The house was initially owned by the Rizzi family, after which it passed to the Zentani or Centani family and also housed a flourishing artistic-literary academy. Towards the end of the 17th century, Carlo Goldoni's paternal grandfather, Carlo Alessandro, a notary of Modenese origin, settled here. The Goldoni family remained in this house until 1719.
